Full Description

The remains of three sections of Medieval wall associated with the 13th-century monastery complex at Blackfriars, discovered during cabling work in Canterbury city centre. The walls were 'relatively well preserved' just 0.5m below the modern ground surface, and constructed from flint, chalk and dressed stone. These discoveries 'enhance the understanding of the layout of the complex'. (1)
