Full Description
Summarised from report:
The former Company Office and Stores building is located immediately east of Barrack Hut no 2, to which it is now connected by a modern link. It is narrower than the barrack huts and plainly detailed. Like Barrack Hut no 3a, to which it is linked stylistically, it dates from 1928. The uses of the building seem to have changed at an early date, judging by a 1932 drawing which proposed the relocation of the Company Office to the eastern room and the use of the other two as Company Stores. The western entrance was blocked, and instead a doorway was inserted in the cross-wall to the east; the Weapon Training Store was moved to the recently vacated 1911 Cook House in the Citadel. A drawing dated 1940, labelled ‘proposed rebuilding’, actually shows the rearrangement proposed in 1928. By 1947 the building was being used as Sergeants’ Quarters. (1)
