Full Description
Palaeolithic handaxe from above Barming Asylum, surface find by B Harrison in c. the 1880s, precise find location shown on Harrison's map, held at Maidstone Museum (1), may be the same one as documented by Roe (2). 2 Lower Palaeolithic handaxes found at Barming, "above the asylum". Harrison's map shows two find spots that match this discription. Artefacts found on Hythe Beds, near edge of terrace 5 geology. (3)
