Full Description
A human skeleton was exposed in a landslip above a railway siding near Halling Station in 1912. It was excavated, and numerous flint artefacts were also recovered from the deposits into which the skeleton had been interred (1). Although thought at the time to be Upper Palaeolithic, the skeleton has since been confirmed as Neolithic by C14 dating (2). However, there is no reason to doubt the Upper Palaeolithic age of the lithic artefacts. The deposits also contained molluscs.
