Monument record TR 34 SW 2125 - Former site of the Military Hospital at the Western Heights, Dover
Summary
A Military Hospital was built in a coomb east of the South Military Road during the Napoleonic phase of works at the fort. Originally it consisted of a single building but by 1871 four single-storey huts had been added – two ‘West Hospital Huts’, one ‘East Hospital Hut’ and beyond that an ‘Infectious Disease Hut’. Alongside these a little further up the hill behind the Military Hospital, a Married Soldiers’ Quarters was also added. (location accurate to the nearest 10m based on available information)
