Full Description
During an archaeological excavation undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust in the St James area of Dover, a stone walled structure of a probable medieval date and with several phases of construction was identified abutting the north eastern side of the former Arthurs Place. It seems that this structure was replaced by a later post medieval building, the cellar of which obscures much of the medieval walling. Two 17th century cess tanks which were also identified (TR 34 SW 2137) may be associated with a later phase of this building. (1)
