Landscape record TQ 83 SE 303 - Halden Park

Summary

The earliest reference to a park at Halden is in a document dated to 1487 (a licence to impark). By 1544 the park was 429 acres in size. Various documents over the next few centuries chart its development and a 1609 survey recorded deer, conies, a watermill and carp ponds and a heronry in the park. There are few clear boundary features but possibly a low bank along the southern edge
