Summary
The parkland at Panthurst is first mentioned in a licence to impark of 1348. It was subsequently owned by Archbishops Bourchier and Cranmer and the Crown. By 1544 the park was only 60 acres but by 1630 it had grown to 424 acres. In 2005 the boundaries as indicated on the 1630 map could still be traced on the ground.
