Full Description

The Congregational Chapel on Mortimer Street was opened in 1865. It is shown on the 1862-75, 1897-1900, 1907-23, 1929-52 and current O/S maps. It is now the Herne bay United Church and is still in use.

The present Congregational chapel in Mortimer Street was built in 1864 on part of the site of a Wesleyan Methodist chapel. It has brick side walls but the north front is of Kentish ragstone, the front gabled with intermediate buttresses, a pair of gabled porches and a central and a central pointed-arched window. (1)
