Full Description

During what was described as the worst southerly gale in recent years over a Thursday night/Friday morning, the N Deal lifeboat, CHARLES DIBDIN, went to the assistance of this HM requisitioned trawler, taken into the Royal Navy in 1915, which had gone ashore in Trinity Bay, close to the wrecked liner MONTROSE. Eleven of her crew were saved, the twelth man being drowned. Unable to return to Deal due to heavy weather, the survivors were landed at Broadstairs. William Adams, coxswain, was awarded the RNLI silver medal for the service.
