Cargo stated as coal in sources (1) certainly the most common export from Sunderland, but not the only possible cargo, and not made explicit in the original sources

30-Aug, PLATOFF, Sunderland to Sandwich, foundered in Sandwich Bay. ( 1836, Select Committee on Shipwreck, Appendix 7, 1833)

`Ramsgate, Sept. 1. The PLATOFF, Burnick, from Sunderland to Sandwich, sunk at her anchors in Sandwich Bay on Friday night. Crew saved.' ((Durham County Advertiser - 06-SEP-1833, No.992))
