'...vessel ashore and bilged during a very tempestuous night, dark and rainy. The captain and crew are safe at Deal.' (1)(4)

'The BASSETERRE, Capt. Adams from St. Kitts for London, ran on shore the 20th inst. at ten o'clock at night, near Kingsdown and bulged, the cargo will be entirely lost, the captain and people are all saved.' (2)

'Canterbury, April 24: On Friday evening, between 10 and 11 o'clock, was lost off the South Foreland in a hard gale of wind from the west, the BASSATERE, Capt. Adams, from St. Christopher's for London. The ship will be entirely lost, being bulged, and full of water. The crew were all saved.' (3)

'The BASSETERRE, Adams, from St. Kitt's to London, laden with sugar, ran on shore near Kingsdown, in the Downs, last Friday night, and is bulged. The captain and people are well at Deal. It was a very tempestuous night, being both dark and rainy.' (5)
