Monument record TQ 63 NW 5 - Site of Tollslye furnace, Furnace Wood, Lamberhurst
Summary
The site of Tollslye Forge is indicated by the remains of a Pond bay and an accumulation of slag suggesting the location of the furnace. The forge may have been included in Bayham (see TQ 64 NW 1) the corresponding forge. The Bay is some c.120m in length and a water system, pond dry and tail race are also thought to be evident. Documentary references only give fleeting references to this site, but indicate it was in use in the early part of the 17th century.
