Full Description
Having detonated a magnetic mine, dropped by German aircraft in the Downs, this vessel dirfted ashore where she smashed her way from south to north through the inshore end of Deal pier, completely knocking down the inner end. Having detonated a magnetic mine, dropped by German aircraft in the Downs, this vessel drifted ashore, where she smashed her way from south to north through the inshore end of Deal pier, completely knocking down the inner end. In 1974 a sport diver found the ship's bell marked BERENT.
Dutch motor vessel which stranded 1 mile east of Deal Coastguard after she was mined on 29-JAN-1940 whilst en route from Harlington to London. She lies at 51 13.50N, 01 25.10E in shallow water and has been dispersed.
Position of loss given as 1 mile east of Deal coastguard and cargo as strawboards; wreck sold.
