Full Description

At this period the Julian Calendar was still used in Great Britain, with the New Year beginning on 25th March. Therefore the dates from 1st January to 24th March (inclusive) in modern reckoning are one year later than the year printed on Lloyd's List. Source (3) follows source (2) in expressing the date as 1743 (Old Style); the date of loss has however been amended to 1744 to reflect New Style dating.

`In the night between the 24th and 25th instant there was a most violent storm at NE...The NOTTINGHAM, Brown, for East India, is lost near Broadstere; most of her cargo lost.' (2)

Source (1) states destination as Baft.
