Full Description
'The ROYAL DUKE, Cummins, for East India, is ashore near Sheerness.' (2)
'The ROYAL DUKE Indiaman, which ran ashore below Sheerness, is got off, and but very little damage done to her. While she was on shore, Capt. Misson, who is charged with wilfully sinking the ELIZABETH AND MARTHA, was taken out of her, and brought to London under a strong guard.' (4)
The ROYAL DUKE, of 498 tons, was certainly recovered since she remained in the East India Service until 1759. (5)
