'The MARY, Whatmaugh, from Honduras, is on shore near Whitstable.' (2)

'...drove on shore and otherwise greatly damaged by the high wind at or near Whitstable [along with other vessels.]' (4)

Source (3) gives the reporting date of loss of 22-NOV-1776 and is the source for the destination of London.

The name of the master and the vessel, and her destination of London, together suggest that she was British and homeward-bound.
