TQ 60724783 Thames pick 5" long. Dug up in garden which is c. 20 feet above riser. Garth, Old Hadlow Road, Miss Robson, owner, 1957. (1) Thames pick found in 1957 when the garden of `Garth' 49 Old Hadlow Road, was being prepared from the old meadows bordering the Pen Stream. Approx find spot at TQ 60734778 pointed out by the finder Miss Robson. In the two or three days following this find, whilst this garden and that immediately to the N. were being developed as a single unit, a few Me. blades and a point were found, also a small barbed and tanged arrowhead and a fragment of the rim of a pot which has been classified by the BM as 10th c. Miss Robson (a), who retains possession of all these finds including the pick, could give no further information on their siting beyond saying they came from an area centred TQ 60734780, partly by her own hand and partly by her mother's (the latter owning the other garden in question and unable to offer further information) (2) Not mentioned in the Gazetteer of Mesolithic Sites.
