Full Description

TQ 63514982. A Roman coin of Aurelian (year 2) and Vabalathus (year 5), minted at Alexandria AD 271-2, was dug up in the cottage garden inCourt lane, Hadlow. The coin was identified by Dr C.H.V. Sutherland. (1) This coin was found c. 1959 by Mrs Keen of 6 Castle Cottages, Hadlow in the portion of her garden now cut through to form an entrance to a playing field. The find spot was surveyed at 1:2500 by W. Cdr. Dumbreck, employer of Mrs Keen, and this point has been transferred to the 25" AM - TQ 63494981. The coin is in the possession of Wing Cdr. Dumbreck.
