Monument record TQ 64 SE 1 - Moatlands House and moat, Brenchley

Summary

The house at Moatlands was thought to have been constructed in c.1524. This has been replaced by a 19th century gothic castellated house and nothing of the original house now remains. A homestead moat is situated to the west of the house and it remains water filled and in good condition. When it was cleared out in 1860 the old oak drawbridge was found.
