Full Description

A brick-built, roofless structure located to the east of a Byway (Pimlico Way) leading north-west from South Alkham. The structure is rectangular and brick built (approx. 2m x 2.5m) and protrudes about 50cm above the ground. Removal of surface scrub has revealed a concrete ramp with surface ridges leading in to the structure. The ramp and location suggest the possibility that this is a Second World War gun emplacement, although the wall are thin compared to other examples.

The structure is visible on Google Earth (2018) and aerial photographs of 2008 and perhgaps 1946. It is possible that the structure dates to the Second World War, but no ground investigation has occurred to date. (1)
