The site of a ropewalk and rope manufactory is visible in this location on historic OS maps dating to he 19th century, including the First (1862-75) and Second (1897-1900) Edition OS's and the Dover Tithe Map (1843). By the third edition OS (1907-23) the site appears to be disused. (1-3)
