Summary
The former site of a train engine shed is visible in this location on historic OS maps dating to the later decades of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is likely that this engine house is associated with the former Town Station which was constructed in 1844 to serve the South Eastern Railway Company and was located approximately 10m to the south west of it.
