Findspot record TR 15 NE 1790 - Mesolithic or early Neolithic flint blade-flake and undated flint assemblage at St. Augustine's Abbey, Canterbury
Summary
During excavation of a soakaway during the construction of the visitor centre at St Augustine's Abbey in 1996/7, a Mesolithic or earlier Neolithic brown flint blade-like flake was found. The blade had retouch on the proximal edge and was dated on methodological and typological grounds. Other undiagnostic flint artefacts were also recovered as residual material from the site; these included one struck flint nodule, and 9 flakes.
