Full Description
This crossing keeper's house was part of the Paddock Wood to Hawkhurst Branch Line ('The Hop Pickers' Line').Although the Level Crossing Keepers hut was demolished during the early 1960s, the cottage was reatained and is now a private dwelling.
As with the other keepers cottages along the PWH BL, the Smallbridge keepers cottage
is of local significance. "In part this stems from the association with Holman Stephens", the assisant engineer on the railway construction project (1-2)
