Full Description
During a watching brief observing the construction of an extension to an existing outbuilding, a scatter of Roman finds were found in a layer beneath the topsoil. Two pieces of Roman roof tile,
one piece of Roman floor tile, and one piece of scored tile (possibly Roman box flue tile) confirm nearby Roman settlement. These now support other other Roman finds made in Churchfield Way (TR 04 NE 84). Other finds from the layer included one pot sherd 'of iron age type', two clay pipe stems,
one piece of animal leg bone and two pieces of struck flint. (1)
