Monument record TR 16 NW 224 - Animal skulls and iron age pottery, Swalecliffe
Summary
A walkover survey carried out in 2009 found evidence of a considerable number of animal bones including three ox skulls and one horse skull. These were in a shingle and clay bank that is being steadily eroded. In the same deposits are pot sherds, including a piece of a fine ware bowl, and a wooden stake. The pottery has been provisionally dated to the iron age.
