Full Description

Evidence for an established field boundary system that existed in the 12th – 14th centuries, probably associated with the neighbouring farmstead.

A large medieval (13th-14th century) pottery assemblage included three sherds of Tyler Hill type from the Canterbury area, with the remainder being of relatively local (Ashford/Wealden) manufacture. The Ashford-type and Ashford/Wealden wares provided jars (mostly with developed rims), while jugs were supplied by the Wealden-type and Surrey/Wealden wares, as well as Tyler Hill. Other finds included 77 fragments of medieval flat (peg) roof tile and a small group of fuel ash slag lumps. (1)
