Full Description
Vessel drove ashore and lost in wind conditions SSW force 9. (2)
The following is partly illegible owing to the close binding of the original:
'The iron sailing vessel PLASSEY, from Demerara with rum and sugar, for London, having a crew of 60 besides six passengers, run ashore [illegible] yesterday morning between Hythe and [illegible]. The Folkeston [sic] Coastguard, by means of the [rocket?] apparatus, succeeded with considerable difficulty in rescuing the crew, who are Malays and Ben[galis?] The vessel lies in shallow water, and is expected to become a total wreck.'
