Full Description

Tall narrow mid C19th (or possibly earlier) building in a brown/buff coloured brick. The ground floor had a former commercial use but has been converted into residential. The original shop window has been retained, it is divided into six rectangular sections, the upper three are glazed with the lower are blocked with timber. The door is located on the north western side of this window, within a slight recess. The northernmost part of the window is located within the return towards this door and there is a further square window located above the transom over the door. There is a rendered band at the top of the ground floor level, stretching across the width of the façade. At the first-floor level there is a large, centrally placed canted oriel bay window, this is divided into three parts by timber mullions and has a domed metallic roof. There is a string course in brick aligning with the cornice beneath the roof on the bay. A further brick string course is located at the base of the second floor and forms a continuous sill for the two second floor windows. These two windows are closely spaced and narrow, each has a flat gauged brick arch above. There is a final brick string course located directly over these window headers, with a small brick parapet above. Brick pilasters are located over each of the party walls, rising from the base of the first floor up to the top of the parapet. There is a fair amount of vegetation growth attached to these pilasters particularly at the upper level, as well as to the parapet over the second floor. A number of modern features are attached to the façade, including a large satellite dish with its associated wiring, a redundant metal bracket and several vents. There is some staining and discolouration to the brickwork, particularly at the upper level otherwise the building is in a fairly good condition and appears to be structurally sound.

The ground floor of this building had a former use as a shop and the openings at this level reflect this former use. There is a large, near floor to ceiling, opening occupying much of the façade, this is divided into six parts by timber mullions and transoms. The lower three have been blocked by timber while the upper are glazed, all appear to be fixed. The door is located on the north western side of this window, within a slight recess. It is in a painted timber with two large panels, the upper of which is glazed. The northernmost part of the large window is located within the return towards this door and there is a further square window located above the transom over the door. All of the frames for the windows and door are in timber painted white. There is a large, centrally placed canted oriel bay window located at the first-floor level. This is divided into three parts by timber mullions, in each part there is a two-pane timber framed sash, the central is near double the width of the two outer. There is a slight cornice at the top of this bay over which is a domed metallic roof. There are two closely spaced windows at the second-floor level, aligning with the bay on the floor below. These both consist of narrow, two pane, timber framed sashes. All the frames on the first and second floor windows are also painted white, some of the paintwork is slightly chipped but otherwise all of the windows appear to be in a good condition and some may be original.
