Full Description
Small building on the north eastern side of High Street on the corner of a small side street (Queen Victoria Row). The ground floor has been heavily inserted for a modern commercial use with the commercial fascia running across the whole of the ground floor. There is a single ground floor door located on the north western side of the façade, with a small rectangular window above the transom. There is floor to ceiling windows on either side of the door, the north western is narrow while the south eastern is wider. The area on the south eastern side of the windows in is a painted (red) brick. There are two small vents beneath the windows, possibly indicating the presence of a basement below the ground floor, though this is not certain. The first floor is rendered and painted cream. There is a single, large, centrally placed window, the base of which rests directly over the ground floor commercial fascia. It has a metallic frame and has been blocked. There is a modern plastic gutter at the eaves level which runs into a modern down pipe located over the south eastern party wall. The north western (side) elevation, on Queen Victoria Row, is in a mix of brick and flint rubble. The commercial fascia continues around the south western corner of the building and onto the far southern side of the north western elevation, there is a further floor to ceiling window directly beneath this. Overall the building is in a good condition and appears to be structurally sound.
All of the ground floor openings are modern and in plastic. The large first floor window has a metallic frame painted brown and has been blocked. There are some chips to the paintwork on this first floor window but otherwise all are in a good condition.
The roof is gabled, with the gable ends over the north western and south eastern party walls. The roof is in slate with all slates in a good condition. There is some very slight bowing to the roof structure. (1)
