Full Description

Forms part of a C19th terrace on the south western side of High Street. This building is in a brown brick with painted brick at the basement level. The brickwork is not continuous with its south western neighbour suggesting that it was constructed at a slightly different time. The ground floor is at a higher level than the street and the front door, which is located on the north western side of the façade is accessed via a set of seven steps with an iron balustrade on either side of them, this is a later addition. The door has an original and decorative semi-circular fanlight located above the transom and a corresponding brick arch above. A further door is located beneath the steps up to the ground floor providing separate access to the basement level. There are four windows located on the main façade aligning across all floors. All have flat gauged brick arches over and small protruding sills. A moulded eaves level cornice is located at the top of the second floor with a parapet with stone coping above. Both the cornice and the parapet are in a poor condition with the plasterwork flaking away and large areas of vegetation growth. There is some untidy wiring attached to and draped across the façade at several locations, associated with an aerial attached to the façade at the second floor and roof level. Overall this building is slightly untidy, with some of the surviving original features in a poor condition. Despite this it appears to be structurally sound and in a fair- good condition.

The ground floor is likely modern and in timber painted black with six panels. There is an original and decorative semi-circular fanlight located above the transom over this door. A second door is located below the steps up to this door, this was not clearly seen but looks to be modern. There are four windows located across, one per floor aligning across the floors. All are later insertions. The ground floor and basement level windows are casement with timber frames, the paintwork on these is badly chipped and cracked. The first and second floor windows are C20th plastic replacements. Despite the chips to the paintwork in the lower level windows, all are in a good condition with all panes present and intact.

The roof level was not clearly seen as it is located behind a parapet. It is slate and gabled with the gable ends over the south eastern and north western party walls. (1)
