273 London Road/Erith Place late C19th/ early C20th building located on the south western side of the road. The building is on a quiet side road which runs parrallel and is at a slightly higher level to the busy London Road. It has a domestic use and is currently (2019) in a good condition (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)

Full Description

Forms the north western side of a pair of semi detached houses located on the south western side of London Road/Erith Place. Erith Place is a quiet road which runs parallel and is raised from London Road on its south western side. These two buildings are advanced from their neighbours on the south eastern side. It is in a rendered brick with the ground floor slightly raised from the street level and accessed via a set of four steps. There is a low rendered wall with modern metallic railing on the southern side of these steps separating them from the steps of the neighbouring building. this stretches the length of the front garden and ends with a rendered gate pier at the street level. A further low rendered wall separated the front garden area from the street with a modern timber fence over. The door is located on the south eastern side of the façade immediately abutting the south eastern party wall. There is a moulded cornice above the door supported by two decorative plaster brackets beneath. There is a single window at the ground floor level, this is a canted bay with moulded cornice above. There is a single window at the first floor level also, located on the north western side of the façade but not quite aligning with the bay window below. The top of this second floor window is just below the overhanging eaves. A small, possibly original vent is located at the base of the ground floor, near the north eastern corner of the building possibly indicating the presence of a basement below the ground floor. Overall this building is well kept, appears to be structurally sound and is in a good condition.

The door, which is located on the south eastern side of the façade, is modern and in timber painted white, there is a small rectangular glazed panel near its top and a narrow rectangular window above the transom over the door. The ground floor bay window is divided into three parts all with modern plastic surrounds. The first floor window is also modern and in plastic. Overall the windows and door are in a good condition with all panes present and intact.

The roof structure was not clearly visible from the road below but is gable with the gable ends over the north western and south eastern party walls. There is a rendered stack located at level with the ridge over the north western party wall. (1)
