Listed as a group 295-300 located on the north western side of London Road on a raised pavement level.
Forms part of a terrace of C19th buildings located on the south western side of London Road on a raised pavement which is separated from the busy London Road by a possibly original iron railing. The building is in an exposed brown brick with a rendered and painted (grey) basement level. The door is located on the north western side of the façade, immediately abutting the north western party wall; it is raised from the street level and accessed via a set modern metallic steps which lead to a metal balcony at the ground floor level which runs across the entire length of the property and the properties on the south eastern side. Both the stairs and the balcony are fairly badly rusted. The door is within a slight recess within the brickwork and has a gothic arch above with a small semi circular window within this arch above the transom over the door. A further door is located beneath the steps up to the ground floor level, providing separate access to the basement level. There is a single window on the basement, ground, first and second floor levels, aligning across the floors and located almost centrally within the facade. All have flat gauged brick arches above (though the render at the basement level obscures that over the basement window). A rendered and painted string course is located at the base of the first floor level and forms a sill to the first floor window, this is slightly damaged with the paintwork chipped and flaking away in places. All other windows have small painted protruding sills, there is also some damage to these. There is a parapet with a stone coping located over the second floor. Some wiring crosses the façade in several places, this is associated with two large aerials attached to the brickwork on either side of the first floor window. The building is set back slightly from the pavement level some temporary harris fencing separates a small and untidy and overgrown front garden area from the street. Overall, despite some untidiness, the building appears to be structurally sound and is in a good condition.
The ground floor door, which is located on the north western side of the façade, is possibly original and in timber painted black with six moulded panels. There is a gothic arch in the brickwork above the door and a semi-circular window with a timber frame is located above the transom over the door. The basement level door was not clearly seen. There is a single window on each of the floors aligning across the floors. All apart from the basement window are likely original timber framed sashes divided into multiple panes by timber glazing bars. The ground and first floor windows are divided into 16 small rectangular panes while the second floor window is not as tall and divided into 12. The basement level window is also a timber framed sash but likely a later insertion with two large opaque panes. All of the timber window and door frames are painted white, there are some chips to this paintwork but otherwise all are in a good condition with all panes present and intact.
The roof level was not clearly visible but appears to be hipped with ceramic tiles and a stack is visible centrally, likely associated with a fireplace between the front and rear rooms. (1)
