Monument record TQ 87 SW 1186 - Roman inhumation cemetery, Kingsnorth

Summary

A strip, map and sample excavation at Kingsnorth Power Station (plot 6-7) in 2010-2011 discovered 22 burials, mostly inhumations but also two cremations, dating from the late Roman period (AD 250-400). The cemetery may have been placed within an enclosure. The east-west alignment of the graves suggests these were Christian burials
