Summary

During an archaeological evaluation in 2017 an Anglo-Saxon sunken feature building was discovered. It was 4m x 3.15m in size. Deposits within the building contained chalk and ash, moderate flint nodules and shellfish and produced pottery, animal bone, pennant stone, hearthstones, a copper alloy object and an iron object. The pottery incluyded some 1st and 2nd century Roman pottery within an early to mid-late Saxon assemblage (c. 650-850 AD).
