Full Description

Late C19th/early C20th detached building which may have originally formed part of a short terrace located on the eastern side of Eastbrook Place. The building is in a stock brick with a rendered and painted (cream) ground floor. The door is located on the southern side of the façade, and is set back slightly from the main part of the building. There is a small rectangular window located above the transom over this door and a further narrow rectangular (vertical) window located next to the northern jamb. There are three closely spaced windows located centrally within the main part of the façade; the central is approximately double the width of the two outer, which are very narrow. Multiple small modern vents are located below these windows just above the pavement level suggesting the presence of a basement below this building. There is a rendered and painted string course at the top of the ground floor level, this continues onto the southern portion of the building, over the door. This string course forms a continuous sill to all of the first floor windows. There are four windows at the first floor level, three aligning with the ground floor windows and a fourth narrow window located over the door. The three windows within the main portion of the building all have flat gauged brick arches over while the window over the door has a semi circular brick arch above. There is a moulded cornice at the top of this first floor with a parapet above. There are a few large cracks in this cornice and some staining to the paintwork over it. The parapet over the southern end of the building is small and rendered, while the parapet over the main portion of the façade is in brick with concrete coping. There is a small window located within the brick parapet. This aligns with the central window on the floors below and there are small blocked openings on either side of it, again aligning with the openings on the floors below. All of these have gauged flat brick arches above. The northern (side) elevation is rendered across all floors. There are two brick buttresses and the and a brick wall which rises to half ground floor height abutting this side elevation. The parapet continues on to this side at the top of the second floor. A small amount of vegetation growth is attached to the render on this side elevation. Overall despite some areas of untidiness this building appears to be structurally sound and in a good condition.

The door is located on the southern side of the façade, it is modern and in timber painted cream with six panels and a sem circular window at its top divided into four triangular panes. there is a small rectangular window located above the transom over this door and a further narrow rectangular (vertical) window located on the northern side of the door, immediately abutting the northern jamb. These both have timber frames and painted cream to match the door appear to be fixed There are three windows at the ground floor level and four at the first floor level. All are modern plastic insertions. The small opening at the attic level is also a modern plastic insertion. All windows and the door are in a good condition with all panes present and in tact.

The roof level is located behind a parapet and was not clearly visible from the street level. (1)
