Full Description

Large mid-late C20th build 2-3 Market Square, forms the north west corner of the square, Concrete and glazed façade. Large and grey building in an brutalist style of architecture ground floor and upper floors commercial/office use and storage for the commercial use. This type of brutalist architecture is rare in Dover town centre and this building is a good and well kept example of that style.

Ground floor commercial frontage glazed with door to both the ground floor and the upper stories slightly recessed at the eastern (left) end. Three large equally sized rectangular panes to the west of this with commercial signage above. Upper floors split into three equally sized bays with the central bay slightly recessed from the two outer. The window for each floor stretches across the whole façade minus the outer edges over the party walls. Each floor consists of three large rectangular panes with metal (copper) frames.

Forms a large, imposing building in a brutalist style of architecture which was popular in the 1960’s and 1970’s but that is rare in Dover Town Centre. It is a good and well kept example of this style though it does not fit with many of the other buildings which are located on the square. (1)
