Full Description

Forms part of a late C19th/early C20th terrace on the north eastern side of London Road. The ground floor has a modern commercial use though some of the original shop front details have been retained including: the pilasters and consoles over the party walls and the protruding cornice at the top of the ground floor. There are two doors, one is located on the far north western side of the façade abutting the north western party wall and provides access to the upper floors. The other is located next to the first, on its south eastern side gives access to the commercial ground floor. There is a small rectangular window above the transom over both of these doors. There is a single large square window on the south eastern side of these doors, three small vents are located within the stall riser below this window, possibly indicating the presence of a basement below this building. The upper stories are in an exposed red brick with stone detailing. There is a single, large, centrally placed, bowed window at the first floor level, the base of which rests on the protruding cornice over the ground floor. There is dentil detailing at the cornice level of this window and a flat metallic roof over. There are two windows at the second floor level both with small protruding stone sills. There is a stone band immediately below the eaves at the top of the second floor, with a stone string course at the bottom, both the string course and the stone band are badly weathered and worn. The tops of the second floor windows rest immediately below this string course. There are two further stone bands crossing this façade; one at the base of the second floor, aligning with the sills of the second floor windows and another aligning with the top of the first floor window. Again, these are weathered and worn. Two gutter down pipes run from the top of the second floor down to the pavement level over both of the party walls. A quantity of untidy wiring is located at various locations on the facade, associated with a security system located at the top of the ground floor level. the cornice above the ground floor, some of which look redundant. Overall, despite some untidiness and weathering to the architectural details, the building appears to be structurally sound and in a good condition.

The building has two doors one is located on the far north western side of the façade abutting the north western party wall and provides access to the upper floors, while the second is located next to the first, on its south western side and provides access to the ground floor. Both are modern and in timber, the first is painted black and the second is red and has a large single glazed panel. Both of these doors have windows above the transoms, the southern of these two has been blocked and a small modern vent inserted. There is a single large window on the south western side of these two doors. All of the frames are in timber painted red. There is a single large bowed window at the first floor level and two small windows at the second floor level. All are later plastic insertions and in a good condition.

The roof is gabled and in slate with the gable ends over the north western and south eastern party walls. There are decorative ceramic tiles of the ridge. A brick stack is located over the south eastern party wall and has a large aerial attached to it. Metallic flashing is located at the base of the roof where its meets the stone cornice below. Overall the roof structure appears to be in a good condition. (1)
