Full Description
Forms the south eastern end of a terrace on the north eastern side of London Road, at the junction between London Road and Churchill Street. It is in a rendered brick with a commercial use of the ground floor. This ground floor retains many possibly original features, including the timber door and window surrounds, stall risers, pilasters and consoles over the party walls and protruding fascia over the top of the of the ground floor. There are two doors at the ground floor level, set within a recessed porch area. The first is located on the far south eastern side of the façade, immediately abutting the south eastern party wall, this provides access to the first floor. The second is located next to the first, on its north western side, within the angled return towards the first door. Both doors have square windows above the transoms over the doors and there is a large window on the north western side of both of these doors, occupying the remainder of the ground floor façade. The first floor is rendered and there is a single large, centrally placed canted oriel bay window with a flat roof. A small parapet with stone coping rises over the first floor. A number of modern features are attached to the façade, including a satellite dish and security system, the wiring for both is grouped tidily over the top of the ground floor. The side elevation fronting Churchill Street is also rendered with a parapet and there are no openings. Overall the building is well kept, appears to be structurally sound and in a good condition.
The two ground floor doors are in timber painted grey and white to match the commercial signage. The northern of the two, which provides access to the commercial ground floor has a large glazed panel the base of which aligns with the tops of the stall risers below the window on the northern side. Both doors have square windows above the transoms, with timber frames painted white. The large window on the northern side of the doors is divided into four panes, the transom which divided the window horizontally aligns with the tops of the doors. The window frame is timber painted white. The first floor window consists of a large canted oriel bay. The frames within the bat are modern and plastic. All windows and doors are in a good condition with all panes present and intact.
The roof level was not seen as it is located behind a parapet. There is a rendered stack with tall aerial attached to it visible over the north western party wall. This appears to be in a good condition.(1)
