Palaeolithic ovate (closely resembling that from Swalecliffe (see TR 16 NW 4) found on the surface on the border of Currie Wood, near Currie Farm (3) between Knockholt and Shoreham, by Evans in 1869. (1) Curry Wood was a coppice cleared piecemeal about 100 years ago for small holdings. It was centred at TQ 488604 and the name still survives locally. (a) No further information on this or any subsequent finds was gained among the small holdings, or from past and present farmers of Curry Farm adjoining. (2) TQ 4960 Findspot of two Lower Palaeolithic handaxes in Clay-with-flints geology. (3-7)
