Monument record TQ 64 SW 5 - Site of medieval bloomery, near Castle Hill, Capel

Summary

A small bloomery formerly located near close to Castle Hill. Thought to have been mentioned in a documentary account of 1340. Small amounts of cinder remains have been identified at the site. The identification of evidence of occupation in the area appears to be debated but minepits have been located near the site.
