Full Description
A sub-octagonal brick-built structure standing c. 1m above ground in the middle of Zone 4 at the northern periphery of the airfield. The structure is roofless and the walls are blast-proof strength.
"This structure is very overgrown internally with brambles making access difficult. It was designed to be open to the elements, and as such, the condition of the structure appears to be fairly good."
"Given the location of the structure towards the periphery of the airfield set back a little to the east of the north-south runway it is probable that this structure was part of a radio/radar direction finding system to help with landing at night. It is likely that this structure formed a group with hutment KH 3."
The structure is visible on the 1947 AP and probably dates from the later wartime use of the airfield as a night fighter base.
