Findspot record TQ 64 SW 14 - Lead seal, Brook Cottage, Capel

Summary

A lead seal matrix was found early in 1955 during digging in the garden of a late medieval house. The house has reportedly had several names including Old Stream Cottage, Lid House, Brook or Lydd Cottage. A church of St. Thomas a Becket's is in the area. The seal is inscribed "S THOME BARS" and on the reverse the raised letters "R" and "L" appear on either side of a pierced handle. The seal is now in Maidstone Museum.
