Monument record TQ 67 SW 1553 - Western Roman Complex, Ebbsfleet Valley Sports Ground - Oven

Summary

An early 2nd - mid 3rd century site known as the Western Roman Complex. There are no stone-built structures, but a quantity of tile was found in ditch fills and there is evidence for a possible foundation gully or eaves-drip. Possible evidence of domestic use includes oven built from re-used roofing tiles. Location accurate to 2m based on available information.

Full Description

An oven (20748) constructed of flint, chalk, and tile was built over the top of silted up enclosure ditch 20286, overlying what had been the north-eastern corner of the enclosure. (2)

Location accurate to 2m based on available information.
