Full Description
During the excavation undertaken in the 1980's of a lift shaft within 34 Biggin Street to a depth of around 1.8m below the ground level, about 6 layers of Roman pebble metalling was revealed over natural brickearth. This metalling was associated with a sherd of Samian ware pottery. It is possible that this metalling represents part of a Roman road leading out of Dubris though this is not confirmed. No further information about the features of finds is available (pres comms with Keith Parfitt)
