Full Description

An ‘Engine House’ is marked on the OS 1st edition (1861-1875), and may have been present as early as 1772. By c. 1897-1900 it had been developed into a larger pumping station. "It is believed that the building was used to pump spring water to the brewing facility in St.Johns, over 1km away (78m – 110m elevation). The original structure may have been shown as early as Hasted’s map (1772) as part of the original Tannery Yard." The building is still in use. (1)
