Full Description

The first potential megalith is located close to the junction of Rusthall Road and Langton Road, measures approximately 5m x 1.5m x 1m above ground, and showed clear evidence of being quarried. A large pit found at the western end of the stone, which was visible as a parch mark in 2018.

The second stone is located on the 8th Green of the golf course, is largely rectangular in shape, and measures approx. 2.5.m x 2m x 1.5m. Again it showed clear evidence of being quarried as well as additional markings.

An alternative interpretation of at least some of the features excavated in 2018 is that they are a combination of ‘natural features and ad-hock post-medieval quarrying’, although the 2019 report 'strongly refutes' this view. (3)
