Full Description
The first potential megalith is located close to the junction of Rusthall Road and Langton Road, measures approximately 5m x 1.5m x 1m above ground. The author states that it showed clear evidence of being quarried. A large pit found at the western end of the stone, which was visible as a parch mark in 2018.
The second stone is located on the 8th Green of the golf course, is largely rectangular in shape, and measures approx. 2.5.m x 2m x 1.5m. Again the report states that it showed clear evidence of being quarried as well as additional markings.
An alternative interpretation of at least some of the features excavated in 2018 is that they are a combination of ‘natural features and ad-hock post-medieval quarrying’, although the 2019 report disputes this view. (3)
