Full Description

Between 2012 and 2019, a large assemblage of 200+ worked flints and worked quartzose has been found across four fields at Broomhill Farm. A small selection, including the tip of a flint arrowhead (MKE97227), have been recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme, and these have been dated to the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age. The wider scatter assemblage includes cores, chips and flakes, end scrapers, awls, blades, possible gravers and burins, debitage and burned flint. Also found in 2019 were a possible quern stone, which may have been reused later as an anvil, and a possible Bronze Age whetstone. Landscape survey and LiDAR imagery revealed a possible trackway and/or terracing on the northern edge of the area. The report suggests that the site may be a late Neolithic to early Bronze Age settlement. (1)
