Findspot record TQ 54 SE 276 - Tap slag and furnace slag, Broomhill Farm, Hawarton

Summary

One diagnostic fragment of tap slag and two pieces of possible furnace slag were found during fieldwalking in 2019. They have been interpreted as 'the type of slag samples often associated with primitive bloomery iron production'. The report suggests the possibility of a late Iron Age date, although up to the end of the 14th century would be possible.
